Mass incarceration and the prison industrial complex system creates an environment of helplessness and hopelessness. The poor nutritional provisions and subpar medical care break down bodies and minds. Undiagnosed and diagnosed mental health illnesses are used to further punish and isolate those who should be receiving help! Abuse of authority and excessive force also add to the deterioration of the mind for incarcerated persons.
