Hi everyone!

I wanted to share an important update about the hearing for HB667 from Stephanie Kendrick. Your support means the world to us, and we truly appreciate how far we've come together. If you can, please show your support! Thank you all so much!

“Meanwhile, on Tuesday, March 11, at 3 p.m. the Senate Committee on Transportation And Culture and the Arts will hear HB667 Relating to Transportation, which requires the Department of Transportation and appropriate county departments to scan deceased cats and dogs for microchip information and report that information to the appropriate county animal services provider.

This measure has been championed by Hawaiian Humane, Rep. Darius Kila, our friends at Paw Posse ʻOhana and other online communities dedicated to helping lost pets and their people. It will help famlies find closure in the tragic event that a beloved pet loses its life on our roadways.

Please lend your voice in support. On-time testimony must be submitted before 3 p.m., tomorrow, Monday, March 10. Late testimony will be accepted until the hearing begins.

Notes:

This is the third hearing for this measure. If you have testified at one of the prior hearings, it is fine to submit the same testimony that you have in the past. Just change the committee information. But please weigh in. The committees do not read each other’s testimony and maintaining momentum is critical.
This bill has a bad effective date – 7/1/3000. This is not a cause for concern. A defective date is often added to bills as a procedural move to keep dialog going. We will make sure that a good effective date is added before final passage.”
