Niko and Marshall Plan for Moms

Something big is going on behind the scenes at Starbucks. Last week, in partnership with PL+US, five leading investment firms with assets under management totaling nearly $7 billion filed a first-of-its-kind shareholder resolution challenging Starbucks’s unequal paid parental leave policy, saying it: “...Runs counter to Starbucks’s widely recognized commitment to social responsibility, non-discrimination, and inclusion.” Guess what happened next? Yesterday, Starbucks quietly updated its website -- and baristas who are adoptive parents are now included in the paid parental leave program! This is a major change that is a direct result of your advocacy and demonstrates the power of public pressure to transform workplaces. Well done. Starbucks’s policy change demonstrates that our campaign is working. Spread the word to keep up the momentum until we win equal paid leave for ALL Starbucks employees. We can’t leave anybody behind when it comes to supporting parents and families. Tell Starbucks that you agree with shareholders and employees that parental leave should be equal for everyone at the company. It’s powerful to see the people focused on a company’s bottom line acting on behalf of employees on the front line -- grow the impact of this work by sharing it today on Twitter and Facebook. https://twitter.com/intent/tweet?text=Big%20news%20from%20%40PaidLeaveUS%21%20Historic%20%40Starbucks%20shareholder%20resolution%20on%20equal%20%23paidleave.%20https%3A%2F%2Fwww.theguardian.com%2Fbusiness%2F2017%2Foct%2F02%2Fstarbucks-investors-coffee-family-parental-birth-leave&source=webclient https://www.facebook.com/PaidLeaveUS/posts/496609470699702 Let’s win equal leave for all!
