I'm so grateful for the support I've received in working to prioritize patient safety. This video talks about one of the studies that compares results from seven hospitals. I talk about how a lack of standardization causes big differences in results and how psychiatry doesn't understand the long-term effects of this non-standardized treatment. Hopefully this petition will motivate psychiatry internationally to develop universal standards for administration technique. It's critical to improve the quality of life for patients receiving ECT and reduce the risks associated with permanent brain injury and deterioration which can be associated with exposure to electrical current.
