No other organisation has been brave enough to publicly comment. We feel Tiny Tickers is actually the "leading charity" advocating for our families in this space. The UK wide conversation on this issue is desperately needed. Those behind the scenes at Tiny Tickers deserve recognition.
Tiny Tickers - November 2025;
"we believe that a standardised approach that sees the archiving of these cardiac views at fetal anomaly screening is in the interests of both patients and health professionals.
"we would like to see national guidelines – and, therefore, subsequently the policies and protocols of employers – updated, to end the differences in approach that currently lead to variation in care for patients".
"We believe:
• There should be standardisation of approach across the UK, so all patients receive the same level of care; and all sonographers have clarity on what they need to do.
• There should be a digital record of the cardiac views achieved during fetal anomaly screening, with clips of the fetal heart being captured and stored.
• We will continue to engage with NHS decision-makers and would encourage a UK-wide conversation and consensus on what fetal cardiac images and/or clips should be stored".
"We believe the storage of digital clips would be a new gold standard of care, and would have multiple benefits to both sonographers and patients, including:
• Standardisation and equality of access to care for patients.
• Increase public and patient confidence levels in the profession.
• Better serve the interests of justice in cases of dispute."
"We recognise that changes to the capturing and archiving of fetal cardiac clips may require additional training. We are committed to supporting sonographers and other healthcare professionals involved in anomaly screening as they adapt to these developments."
