We had an update on our Health Ombudsman complaint today. It is still ongoing 18 months on. There is involvement from the Ombudsman legal team and "systemic team" who look beyond individual complaints to identify wider, recurring root causes, policy weaknesses, or systemic failures across organizations or sectors.
It was suggested the Ombudsman would cease their investigation if we intend to pursue legal action. It was stressed that any Ombudsman judgement could help or potentially undermine any future legal action.
We were advised if the Ombudsman make a financial award recommendation - this will be far lower than what could be awarded in private litigation.
We advised we aren't financially motivated. We're exhausted. After 3 years we just want closure now. We only did this to help others and improve national services. We advised that if a financial award is ultimately made by the Ombusdman we intend to dontate this to Tiny Tickers "The Tiny Hearts Charity"
We'd like to see the Ombudsman findings and judgement published in relation to our complaint.
