We wrote to our local hospital in August 2023 asking for clarity over a number of matters. A limited response was provided in March 2024.
Concerning Molly's antenatal scans the hospital casually replied; "Unfortunately, as there is no national requirement to save scan images, we have been unable to review the scans for your pregnancy".
"There is a gestational limit on being able to complete anomaly screening and having already been called back for one repeat scan, the team wanted to ensure that the images were sufficient at this appointment, as to be able to complete the full screening requirements within the gestation timeframe".
It seems peculiar to us that the teams are operating within collapsing time frames to obtain "sufficient" images - yet there is no requirement to keep a record of them.
We don't see how screening can be effective or accurate if there is no obligation to keep a record of what has been seen.
