We, the undersigned, are calling for urgent and decisive action in response to the harassment, exploitation, and mistreatment of the Lady Sables; Zimbabwe’s Women’s National Rugby Team.

Recent disturbing events, including an audio circulating on social media involving Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) President Mr. L. Mtongwiza, and longstanding, unaddressed allegations against both Mr. L. Mtongwiza and ZRU Women’s Chairperson Ms. R. Mwanandiwa, reflect a pattern of abuse and systemic failure. These are not isolated cases, they speak to a culture that has failed to protect its women athletes.

We Request:

1. Immediate suspension of Mr. L. Mtongwiza and Ms. R. Mwanandiwa pending an independent investigation.
2. The formation of a Commission of Inquiry into the treatment of women in Zimbabwean Rugby, and a roadmap for reform.
3. Transparency, protection, and accountability in all ZRU structures moving forward.

Why This Matters:

This is about more than rugby; it's about human dignity. It's about creating a safe and just environment where Zimbabwean girls and women can play, grow, and lead in sport without fear.

The silence must end. The abuse must end. It’s time to protect the Lady Sables, and every girl in sport.
