Our Dear change.org supporters,
We shared our five year journey with you recently and the achievement we made, thanks to your tremendous support. The struggle continues but we cannot do it without you.
Here is a case that we have handled for the past one year:
Hussein Kato, a 23 year old orphan was attacked a year ago with acid which left the right side of his face badly scarred and his left eye badly damaged. Kato endures nights of pain for the past one year. CERESAV has been taking care of Kato since his admission in Mulago Burns hospital. Diagnostic reports say that with specialist care, Kato’s eye could get better and relieve him of the pain he lives with which cause him migraine headaches. Our journey with Kato has not stopped as he still needs intensive surgeries which cannot be done in Uganda.
One of CERESAV’s objectives is to lobby for medical opportunities to help rebuild acid attack survivors’ lives, and to facilitate their reintegration back into the community as close to their before-attack lifestyle as they can be. CERESAV has been reaching out to different hospitals and organizations which can give Kato the desperately needed surgeries. We are pleased to say that Atijeevan Foundation in India, an organization supporting survivors of acid attack violence has accepted to receive Kato and facilitate his rehabilitation and treatment at Gang Hospital India. His first medical appointment is scheduled for Februray 22, 2018. But this is dependent on your willingness to help us meet this need.
CERESAV has secured passports for both Kato and his caretaker. We are now looking for funds to get Kato and his caretaker the necessary Visas and airfare to go to India. Kato, just like any other acid attack survivors, irrespective of gender, deserves to be happy again. He deserves to live as a proactive independent citizen again.
Please help us raise $4,550 to facilitate this process; Have Kato and his caretaker get the visas and airfare required to get Kato to the hospital, Help the caretaker who is the sole breadwinner of his family meet his family’s needs while he is gone.
Please help me raise this money HERE: ceresav.org/make-a-donation-2/
