We’re thrilled to share some incredible news: Yesterday, the Chicago Board of Education voted to transition ChiArts into a district-managed Fine & Performing Arts High School.
This is an important first step in our ongoing effort to protect and strengthen the ChiArts Conservatory model — the very heart of what makes our school so extraordinary.
The Board’s resolution specifically commits to “preserving the conservatory to the greatest extent practicable” and to “exploring alternative financial strategies and partnerships.”
CPS has also stated its commitment to work with ChiArts families to ensure that current and future students continue to benefit from the rigorous pre-professional arts training that defines our school.

This victory is thanks to the voices of over 2,800 passionate supporters who stood together to make sure our scholar-artists are seen, heard, and valued.
Let’s celebrate this moment — and stay united as we continue the work to ensure that the Conservatory model not only survives, but thrives.
🎨💪 Thank you for being part of this movement. Together, we are proving that the arts matter — to our students, our city, and our future.
