As a proud LGBT student at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA), I have personally experienced the pain and marginalization caused by hate speech on our campus. Like me, many other LGBT students at UCA face derogatory remarks and discriminatory rhetoric disseminated by certain groups, most notably Turning Point USA. Our campus should be a safe and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and respected.

Hate speech perpetuates an atmosphere of hostility and fear, contradicting the values of diversity and inclusion that UCA claims to uphold

Turning Point USA, a group active on the UCA campus, has been known for disseminating hate speech targeted at LGBT individuals. This perpetuates a culture of intolerance and exclusion that is unacceptable in our academic and social environment. By allowing this, the university implicitly condones behavior that goes against the very essence of a supportive educational space.
