Stand Against Girls Violence and Demand Creation of Safe Spaces

Stand Against Girls Violence and Demand Creation of Safe Spaces
The Issue
Girls in Kenya face daily threats of violence—at home, in school, and in public spaces. This is a national crisis that must no longer be ignored. We call on the Government of Kenya to declare violence against girls a national disaster, create safe community spaces, and ensure justice for survivors.
Every day, girls across Kenya endure gender-based violence—ranging from sexual abuse and harassment to child marriage, FGM, and trafficking. Most cases go unreported due to fear, stigma, and lack of trust in existing systems. Survivors are often left without justice, support, or protection.
This crisis is destroying lives and futures. It is time to treat it with the urgency of a national disaster.
We Demand the Following Actions from the Government of Kenya:
1. Declare Violence Against Girls a National Disaster and Crime.
Acknowledge the gravity of this issue and respond with national emergency measures.
2. Establish Safe Community Spaces in Every County.
These spaces should offer girls access to counseling, emergency shelter, legal aid, sexual and reproductive health services, and protection.
3. Strengthen Law Enforcement and Justice Systems.
Ensure swift handling of GBV cases, protect survivors from retaliation or intimidation, and enforce strict penalties for offenders.
4. Introduce Safety Education in Schools and Communities.
Train educators, parents, and local leaders to prevent, detect, and respond to violence.
5. Provide Free Mental Health and Trauma Support Services.
Survivors deserve healing, dignity, and long-term psychological support.
6. Create Independent, Confidential Reporting Channels.
Make it easier and safer for girls to report abuse without fear
WHY THIS MATTERS???:
No girl should grow up afraid. Every girl deserves safety, dignity, and freedom from violence. The government has the power—and the responsibility—to protect her.
We urge the President of Kenya, the Ministry of Gender, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Health, and all relevant stakeholders to act now.
Sign this petition to stand with girls across Kenya.
Together, let’s demand protection, justice, and change.💪
