In Memory of Dr. Flege
Odds of Recovery from a Hip Fracture at 85 are Not Good. And a Story of Nursing Home Abuse. x2

Free Dr. FlegeCincinnati, OH, United States
Aug 3, 2017
Dr. Flege's hip was broken at Marjorie P. Lee, a rehab/nursing home facility in Cincinnati, in September 2016. He had been at the rehab facility less than 24 hours, having been transferred from University Hospital after a sham admission arranged by a family member in order to qualify him for an inpatient rehab stay at Marjorie P. Lee for a "sore thigh". This VIP bed admission was reportedly made at the request of a family member to one of Dr. Flege's surgical colleagues after Dr. Flege's long time PCP refused the request. The circumstances around these admissions were troubling on many levels. Dr. Flege rang ME, thousands of miles away, on his iPhone, calm and collected, "I just fell and broke my neck of femur and no one is around to help me." I promised to hang up and call Marjorie P. Lee and ask them to go find him. I also asked Dr Flege his surgeon of choice. I called the surgeon who instructed me to arrange for immediate transfer and indicated that he was ready and would meet Dr. Flege at the door to the Christ Hospital ER. This transfer could have been done in 15 minutes. Despite Dr. Flege's request for prompt transfer to the orthopedic surgeon personally awaiting his arrival, Marjorie P. Lee forced Dr. Flege to wait for a portable X-ray machine to be brought to the facility. This took hours. Then Dr. Flege was forced to wait additional hours for an official report. Dr. Flege was refused adequate pain control during this time. Dr. Flege read his own film and pointed out the fracture. It was evening by the time Dr. Flege was transferred to the hospital about 5 miles away. Surgery would have to wait a day. The orthopedic resident on call that night refused Dr. Flege pain relief other than Tylenol, claiming that Dr. Flege was "confused". He'd been lying around a whole day with a broken hip, trying to get 5 miles to the surgeon waiting for him, with only Tylenol for his pain! Within a 6 mile radius of Marjorie P. Lee, there are probably 10 sufficiently staffed Emergency Rooms, a brand new one less than a mile away. Marjorie P. Lee scumbags waited around for a shitty portable machine to be brought in on a truck?
Disgusting. Dr. Flege knows what a broken hip means at age 85! In a cruel twist of fate, Dr. Flege ended up back at Marjorie P. Lee for rehab after hip replacement. His other hip was broken at the Kenwood by Senior Star (more on The Kenwood later...real scary place) less than a year later, again under suspicious circumstances. There may have been efforts to hide the injury as Dr. Flege was in pain some time before he was allowed to go to the hospital. Following his second hip replacement in less than a year, he ended up back at Marjorie P. Lee for rehab. Marjorie P. Lee denied that Dr. Flege was even at their facility to some family members, lawyers for family members, and close friends. They refused to allow Dr. Flege contact, phone or visitation, with his closest confidantes. Following that fateful day in September 2016 at Marjorie P. Lee, Dr. Flege's life would never be the same. Ironically, he would suffer further insult and injury at Marjorie P. Lee over the next year. Do these places have a right to hold an injured person in need of medical attention captive like this? #MarjoriePLee #KenwoodbySeniorStar
