Stand Against Book Bans with Half Price Books

Stand Against Book Bans with Half Price Books
The Issue
At Half Price Books, we hold fast to the belief that the best books go beyond the surface of our desire for a good story. Literature also teaches us the value of differing perspectives and allows for the freedom of expression. The recent emergence of book bans across the nation is an active threat to that freedom and we are compelled to boldly stand against any entity that aims to weaponize literature and disparage the crucial work being done by librarians and educators in this country.
Sign our petition and join us as we oppose attempts at censorship and book banning across the nation*. We want nothing more than for literature to remain accessible to those who desire to read books that reflect every chapter of the human experience. It is our hope that with your help, we’ll come out victorious in the fight for the freedom to read.
*The number of signatures gained will be referenced in a formal letter sent to state senators from Half Price Books, Records, Magazines, Incorporated on behalf of our fellow employees, patrons, and citizens.
Additional Ways to Show Support:
- Attend your city’s local school board meetings and voice your concerns about book bans.
- Advocate for your local library by signing up for a library card and being an active visitor.
- Send emails to your local senators expressing your support for educators, librarians and booksellers.
- Visit HPB.com to view our letter to senators and explore lists of the most frequently banned titles.
