St. Patrick's: Cancel Animal Fighting Contest

St. Patrick's Parish in northern Wisconsin planned to host an event on August 1, 2014, in which pigs are punched in the face, kicked, body-slammed, jumped on, yelled at and thrown into a bucket.

This illegal animal fighting event is in violation of Wisconsin Chapter 951, titled "Crimes Against Animals," which outlaws cockfighting, dogfighting, and any other similar fighting between animals or animals and humans.

Last year, Global Conservation Group filed suit against St. Patrick's Parish in northern Wisconsin for hosting the activity. The court documents indicate, "St. Patrick's conduct [pig wrestling] in violation of state law was willful, wanton, and in intentional disregard of the law as it and its members from years of hosting the event certainly knew the outcome and were told years earlier the "Pig Rassle" ran afoul of the law." Shortly thereafter, the parish agreed to permanently replace the pig fighting contest with a human foosball game in a mud pit.

Join the Global Conservation Group in calling on the fair board to cancel this event and replace it with a humane alternative activity. Please sign and share the petition.
