Our old head teacher in St Machar Academy, Isabel McIntyre was a fair and good head teacher, having to leave our school for personal reasons we now have a new head teacher(Joanne Hesford). Mrs Hesford, although doing well to improve the presence of school uniform throughout the school almost instantly after the summer break, is still an extremely worrying choice for a head teacher in our school, an extremely successful school with a growing LGBT group. Mrs Hesford when talked to about any kind of equality based issue, seems to just brush it off and ignore it, going on to tell you to "Take things a step at a time" and "Don't get ahead of yourself". This would be very good and possibly helpful advice... If the people she were talking to hadn't been going through this kind of thing for 9 years. Mrs Hesford also has a tendency to speak to any and every student in the school, regardless of age.. In an Extremely condescending tone, making it very hard to have a genuine conversation about any problem with her, as you feel like and it seems very much like she does not care at all.

Now, Even though Mrs. Hesford is probably a very nice person, I really do not think that she is the right choice for our school. Mr. Purdie, the man who was put in the place of Acting head teacher before Mrs. Hesford came to our school, was already accomplishing a lot more than, I'm sure a lot of us feel. Mrs. Hesford ever will. Mr. Purdie is an extremely kind person, always making sure that students are happy but following the rules. He's always tried his absolute hardest to do good for the school and this was proved when he was acting head. From what could be seen at the time he was quite upset when he wasn't selected as the new head teacher for St Machar Academy and if you asked now, you'd find that almost every student, if not all of them were quite upset too.

I, and many others are hoping that if we can get enough support for this, we can do something and make our school better. We're all dedicated to St Machar Academy, and we all love it. It's a part of our lives and it always will be to some extent. The last thing any of us at St Machar want is for our school not to improve. With Mrs. Hesford it's highly likely that things won't improve, and the School will stay as it is. But if Mr. Purdie were put into the position of Head Teacher. I fully believe that our school could become one of the top 50 schools in the near future. I and many others are completely confident that Mr. Purdie is the best for the job and we have complete confidence in him.
