This is the first Christmas our family was without our loved one. She is living in an abandoned home in Eastwood with people who deal drugs. I called the Rescue Mission and asked that 2 meals be delivered to the home. To think it was 30 years ago that the Director of the Rescue Mission asked me to develop their meal delivery program. 30 meals were delivered in 1993 from the back of my SUV. The Mission delivered over 2600 yesterday. Never would I ever have imagined that my own sister would someday be one in need.
I received a delusional 3 minute voice message from her last night. She remains incapable of asking for help. This madness and mania has become her new normal. She is threatening, angry and evil. I am letting her go.
Over 300 of you have signed this petition and I thank you. It is time to move on. My sister has become a casualty of a broken system and there is nothing the family can do. I hope this petition has created awareness of a flawed system, a system that failed to help her.
It is time to reflect and do what we can, when we can, to help fix this broken system of treatment for those who need help the most. How? By voting for representatives who support the change that is needed.
Wishing each and every one of you a blessed, healthy and safe New Year.
Most sincerely, Laurie
