As a parent of a student in the Santa Rosa County School District, I have seen firsthand the dedication and commitment our teachers bring to their roles. They are not just educators; they are mentors, role models, and pillars of our community. Yet, despite their invaluable contributions, they struggle with inadequate compensation that fails to keep pace with the cost of living.

The district has been engaged in mediation talks with our teachers for 5 months now. We encourage SRCS to accept the terms of the teachers’ union, SRPE, promptly so that we can ensure fair compensation for our educators. 

According to data from the National Education Association (NEA), Florida ranks 46th out of 50 states in terms of teacher pay. This is unacceptable considering the vital role teachers play in shaping future generations. 

By signing this petition, you're supporting an urgent call for action - finalizing mediation talks between Santa Rosa County School District and its teachers while ensuring they receive their most recent SRPE request rate of 5.04 %.  This amounts to a raise of 3.24% from the SRCS budget and 1.8% from the state of Florida that has been allocated in an effort to increase teacher pay across the board in our state.
