“IMPASSE DECLARED IN TEACHER SALARY NEGOTIATIONS - Santa Rosa Professional Educators’ teachers union President would like to bypass a Special Magistrate and go straight to a board hearing,” as reported by the South Santa Rosa County News.
Sadly, SRCS District continues to deny an acceptable raise to our teachers and the SRPE has declared an impasse as neither side has been able to come to an agreement. During this time, our teachers have felt demoralized and unappreciated by the SRCS leadership. While our teachers go 3/4 of the year without a contract and their requested raises, health insurance costs have gone up. And under this stress, our teachers, the backbone of this school district have still showed up for our children. Shameful that our teachers are being treated in this manner. SRCS Leadership should immediately do what they can to end the impasse and give the teachers’ their requested raise as well as address the salary compression issue which would allow a 1st year teacher to make the same as a 10th year teacher.
