'Spotlight is the UK's leading casting database with unrivalled knowledge and contacts at the heart of the industry' according to their website. They currently allow performers to list an array of types of performance but not 'Improvisation'. We want them to add 'Improvisation' to their Production type list

Improvisation is an important and worthwhile aspect of the performing community and performers should be allowed to list it as a credit on their CV. If 'Mobile Phone' and 'PC Gaming' can be considered as legitimate forms of performance, then improvisation should be allowed as well. The improv community is flourishing in the UK, with new groups and performances happening all the time. Spotlight should be helping those people find a voice and not excluding them.

Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Kirsten Wiig all began their careers with improvisation. In the US, improv is a respected artform and not a sideline or rehearsal tool. If the UK is to develop it's performers to this level, we need to start treating it as valid art form, and that will come when our most famous institutions recognise it as well.
