Dear all who have signed the petition for Zone 6, I am very passionate about campaigning for our stations to be included with in the TFL Zone system. This would give us cheaper travel and allow us to use Oyster cards. Making the public transport more accessible and affordable to people. It would benefit our community and enable people to visit our beautiful area. I have put myself up as a candidate for a Conservative councillor as I am keen to represent the local community and its interests. I love living in Spelthorne, I moved here two years ago and I recently got married (hence the name change from Coskie!). The borough is bustling, full of energy and has some excellent facilities too. As a Conservative candidate for Ashford Town I would like to continue the efforts we have made so far. The petition has been signed by many residents and I would like to increase the media activity surrounding the petition. Our MP Kwasi Kwarteng is in support of our campaign and my fellow Conservative candidates Nick Gething and Naz Islam are also in favour of bringing Zone 6 to Ashford. As a nation, our country has seen very positive growth in the economy and I believe that this has been down to The Conservative Party. I believe that the party values hard workers and families, giving us better taxes allowances and more money to spend. I don’t want to see our hard earned money being given to South West Trains just because we live one stop outside the fare Zones. I truly believe that through persistence, we can get the train companies and the Department of Transport to acknowledge our plea. Greater London and the surrounding suburbs is home to millions of commuters who use the service daily, so I will not accept ‘loss of revenue’ as an excuse not to be included. During my canvassing I have been knocking on a lot of doors within the Ashford Town Ward and met some of you who have signed the petition or had heard of it. Our campaign has generated a significant amount of press attention and as a councillor I would continue to campaign for this and the positive development of our local area. I am aware that there have been many signees asking about the likes of Staines, Sunbury and Shepperton to be included and I will of course include these stations when campaigning. I know that many of my fellow Conservative candidates in Spelthorne are in favour too. Let’s continue to fight together and if I come knocking on your door during my canvassing rounds it would be great to hear your ideas and enthusiasm for our campaign.
