Speed up Ukrainian work permits and green card approvals

Speed up Ukrainian work permits and green card approvals
The Issue
These people are like family to me. Many Ukrainians who came to the United States through government-issued programs are now facing uncertainty as their work permits are starting to expire. As they have not yet received their green cards, this situation leaves them unemployed and vulnerable, despite having entered the country legally and contributing by paying taxes.
Moreover, many Ukrainian truckers face the additional challenge of not having their Department of Transportation (DOT) licenses renewed without holding a green card. This predicament unfairly puts their livelihoods at risk, while the nation has a high demand for skilled workers in the transportation sector.
According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the backlog in processing work permits and green cards for immigrants has worsened over the years, leading to long delays. For Ukrainians, who fled their home country due to ongoing conflict, this delay is more than just an inconvenience—it's a major barrier to stability and self-reliance.
The Administration already acknowledged the extraordinary circumstances surrounding Ukrainian refugees and launched programs like "Uniting for Ukraine". It's imperative that we continue this support by accelerating the process for work permits and green cards, ensuring these individuals can contribute positively and live without fear of falling out of status.
I urge the U.S. government to prioritize and expedite the processing of work permits and green cards for Ukrainians, along with renewing DOT licenses without the immediate need for a green card. These individuals have proven their resilience and readiness to integrate and thrive in American communities. Their continued contribution should not be hindered by bureaucratic delays.
Let's come together to advocate for our Ukrainian friends and neighbors. Your voice can make a difference in the lives of many who seek to live the American Dream. Please sign this petition and urge the relevant authorities to act swiftly and justly. Thank you for your support.
