It has been a long time for this. I found out in an email from Gahanna Special Olympics in a letter that was given to local coordinators for Special Olympics Ohio that the State Indoor Winter Games will be back in Columbus at The Ohio State University from March 7-9, 2025 and the State Outdoor Winter Games back at Snow Trails in Mansfield from February 3rd to possible the 4th if the numbers requires a two-day event. Despite not going to the State Indoor Winter Games, I heard many complaints from athletes and coaches about the facilities at Bowling Green State University such as the narrow huge steps and holding rails to get up and down at the Cooper Pool and other things. People living in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Southern Ohio had a 4-5 hour drive to get to BGSU. The State Indoor Winter Games with Basketball, Cheerleading, and Swimming will be in the more central location of Columbus, Ohio. However, I still feel that the State Swim Meet should be a separate event in early-late March to early April; or Early December. because it would be much easier without any conflicts with other sports. Despite it is a victory to get it back in Columbus, there is still more work to be done like Reinstatement of Regional Bowling Tournaments; returning of discontinued sports like Long Course (50 meter) Swimming, Figure (Ice)/Roller Skating, Cycling, the State Team Bowling Tournament, and more for Special Olympics Ohio. I have suggested adding 3x3 Basketball, Open Water Swimming, Triathlon, Short Track Speed Skating, and Cross Country Skiing to the program. I am excited about the State Indoor Winter Games coming back to the Capital City of Columbus at The Ohio State University in 2025.
