Hello everyone!
we are so grateful to the 700+ people who signed this petition and spoke up about an issue that really matters and makes a difference in our community.
In the next couple of days, we will be taking the petition down. The owner of the restaurant decided last minute that they are no longer interested in meeting to discuss the petition or the requests made in the petition. We are not sure what they plan to do, if anything, but we sincerely hope they take into consideration that hundreds of community members took a stand to ask that the restaurant make changes that are sensitive to the communities they plan to represent aesthetically with their business.
Ultimately, the petition did what we intended, which was to alert the business owner of requests that the greater Latinx and Indigenous communities of Ojai had in order for the restaurant to truly feel like an offering to more than just one subset of Ojai’s community. It is now up to the owner of Tres Hermanas Ojai to make a decision about how they plan to move forward, now that they have all of the information about what the community truly wants.
Thank you everyone for your support and care around this issue! “There are few things more powerful than people united.”
