End of the road.

So today we had our final appointment. We were told that it was the end of the road for us and we would have to find the £8000 needed to create our own family. Mentally, this news is impossible to take and after asking for the support needed to get through this, there was the longest pause and then, nothing. We are now on our own. The NHS has wiped their hands of us, despite my request for anything to support me and my mental health, regardless of any sort of fertility treatment. The most supportive person I did come across was the HCA in the room who took it upon herself to find us a private room (as we needed to get out the room we were in as our time was up) and direct us toward the help and support that we need. The lowest paid and least recognised person we came across has showed us the most compassion and direction and I didn't even get to thank her. Working for the NHS myself, it just sums up to me how this is a service which is under funded, over stretched and ran by politics where the higher earner who can afford the best of the best healthcare, will make decisions on the lives of people less fortunate to themselves. I will not give up with this as changes need to be made and issues which are seemed as taboo such as mental health, infertility and the mental health issues resulted by this, should be recognised as dealt with with the seriousness and urgency as a visable disability.
