Hi all,

I’m just writing to give you a quick update on how things are going with the Walk-in Centre campaign.

First of all, as you may have seen in the local press recently, I am thrilled to be able to tell you that the outgoing Chief Executive of Southport & Ormskirk NHS Trust recently came out in support of our campaign to get a Walk-in Centre for Southport’s hospital.

Silas Nicholls agreed that the creation of a new walk-in facility would be a very valuable addition to the hospital’s services and help relieve pressure on our Accident & Emergency services. Silas is off to head a new trust elsewhere in the North West but I’m hopeful that incoming Chief Exec Trish Armstrong will be similarly supportive, and hope to meet with her early in her appointment to raise the issue.

Second, the petition now has over 1,700 signatures which is a fantastic result for a local campaign like this – but I’d love it if we could make it to 2,000 by the start of 2020. Especially with all the attention in local and national press about yet another difficult winter in the NHS this is the perfect time to talk to friends and family or reshare the petition on your social media. If everyone supporting our campaign can chat to just one person before Christmas and get them to put their name on the petition, only a small chunk of them need to follow through for us to get to 2,000.

Many thanks for your ongoing support. I’ll be in touch again in early 2020, but you’re always welcome to get in touch with me if you’d like any further information.
