Thank you for signing the petition for a Walk-in Centre for Southport.
You may be aware that the CCG are currently refusing to meet with me to discuss the situation as I’m not an elected representative. However, I have met with the current CEO of the hospital who has said he would welcome such a proposal as it would take strain off the A&E.
At an Overview and Scrutiny meeting last night, I have been informed that the CCG are of the view that they do not support a Walk-in Centre for Southport as they do not feel our demographics support the need for one. They argued that we have an older population who tend to call an ambulance rather than use a Walk-in Centre. However, our A&E services remain overstretched, and many patients could be seen and treated by an urgent care Walk-in service rather than attending A&E.
For this reason I will continue to call for a Walk-in Centre and will lobby any future government to give more funding to allow this to happen.
I’d be grateful if you could continue to share this petition with friends and relatives and especially on any social media such as Facebook that you use.
