India’s largest financial news portal Money Control carried a feature on #MilneDo including interviews with several co-signatories of the campaign.
Published on International Day of Peace 2022, the article includes suggestions by former National Security Adviser of India, Shivshankar Menon, for economic growth in South Asia as a bloc. “We have to think bigger, beyond political boundaries,” he says.
Interviewees include journalist Beena Sarwar who spearheads the campaign; Diep Saeeda, founder chairperson, Center for Peace and Secular Studies, Lahore, who launched the Relaxed Visa Regime Campaign a decade ago; Peter Jacob, executive director of Center for Social Justice (CSJ), Lahore; Khushi Kabir, feminist activist from Dhaka; and Namrata Sharma, journalist from Kathmandu.
Bangalore-based filmmaker Bani Singh, who travelled from India to Pakistan to make her award-winning documentary film Taangh/Longing about her hockey champion father and his former teammates on both sides of the border, also shared why she believes allowing people to meet is the only way to heal the old wounds of Partition.
Please keep sharing this petition and raising awareness on how soft borders can help economic growth and development in the entire region.
Thank you.
