

The catastrophic floods in Pakistan that have claimed over 1,000 lives already make it all the more urgent to ease restrictions between the countries and allow food aid and trade to take place.

The floods have caused food prices to rise, to the extent that Pakistan is considering opening duty-free import to ease the situation. The government is also considering reviving imports through the land border with India to bring down vegetable prices.
