Animal Rescue Korea 119 (ARK119) completed the closure of three dog slaughterhouses, and filed administrative civil complaints against ten dog farms during this summer’s 16-day journey to shut down the dog meat industry.
The butcher at the slaughterhouse in Goyang committed the atrocity of selling the six remaining dogs to another dog slaughterhouse, but we tracked them down with tenacity and rescued all six dogs from the butchers.
Unfortunately, one dog who had distemper, Faith, passed away, two other dogs with distemper are clinging to life, and the remaining three dogs are hoping to be adopted abroad. It is very difficult to find a home for mid to large size, mixed breed dogs in Korea.
At the Gimpo slaughterhouse, we were able to rescue one dog but sadly, the remaining twelve dogs had disappeared because the negligent and indifferent Gimpo government failed to relocate them from the dog farm.
At Ganghwa dog farm, we helped rescue a mentally disabled man who was working like a slave for the dog farm. We also rescued one dog and brought him to our ARK119 Adoption Center.
Now, we must rescue the 28 dogs relocated from the Bucheon dog slaughterhouse and currently in the care of Bucheon City Shelter.
See the dogs rescued from Bucheon dog slaughterhouse and posted on Bucheon City Shelter Website.
ARK119 will take over the ownership of these dogs after the 10-day notice period is over at the Bucheon City Shelter.
Then, the total number of 36 dogs were rescued during our 16-day mission to shut down the dog meat industry.
It’s not possible for us to rescue these dogs alone. Therefore, I am asking for your help today. ARK119 will take full responsibility for these dogs.
We would appreciate it if any organizations or individuals who can help us with the overseas adoption of these dogs can contact us. We would also greatly appreciate medical support groups that will take care of the dogs’ health issues and feed companies that will support the animals’ food supply, to please contact us.
We expect that we will incur an enormous expense to provide temporary protection, medical examination and treatment expenses, and overseas adoption costs. We will also fundraise for the expenses to be incurred in the future.
Will you donate whatever you can to support ARK119’s Journey to Shut Down Dog Meat Industry? You can donate by Paypal to the ARK119: 119ark@gmail.com
