Animal Rescue Korea 119 (ARK119) is currently on their 16-day journey to shut down dog farms and slaughterhouses around Gimpo, Incheon Ganghwa, as well as the dog auction market in Paju. You can view updates posted on their Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Yesterday, ARK119 raided a large illegal dog farm in Incheon Ganghwa and livestreamed the whole event on YouTube. (The livestream video is taken down. There must have been threats from someone.) They brought with them an SBS News report team and contacted local police and government officials as well as an agency that protects disabled people to come out to the scene. (Watch the news below) A man with an intellectual disability had been working at the dog farm for many years, and it is suspected that the female dog farmer had exploited his disability. The government authorities arrived at the scene to rescue this man but the dogs weren’t as lucky.
This illegal dog farm has violated approximately 10 different laws and will be shut down, but unfortunately the dogs – approximately 300 according to the dog farmer, 500 according to the SBS news – cannot be saved. ARK119 doesn’t have the money to save that many dogs, and most likely all of them will be sold to slaughterhouses. It’s heartbreaking, but this is the reality of South Korea’s dog meat industry; no one can save all the dogs at these dog farms. The task is an enormous one, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, a sum that the dog rescuers don’t have. That is why we continue to campaign so that we can stop this terrible dog meat industry and bring an end to the dog meat consumption in Korea.
At least there will be one less hellscape dog farm in Korea. (Incheon Ganghwa-gun Buleun-myeon Samseong-ri 439). Thank you, ARK119!

Video: “Hell for 500 dogs”. SBS News reported on this raid. Note, it focuses more upon a worker who has been at this farm for 10 years (who suffers from an intellectual disability) and sadly not enough on the horrible cruelty of this hellscape dog farm.
