The new link road which connects the town of Sherford, through to Deep Lane connecting Elburton plymstock and the a38, has recently opened, it’s clearly marked 30mph all the way through, however this is being ignored and it’s only a matter of time before a serious or even fatal accident happens. 
Children need to cross the busy road to get to Sherford Vale Primary School and even parents have said they find it extremely difficult to cross. Cars have been seen doing 70-80mph. Residents of sherford are becoming increasingly concerned for the safety of everyone in the town and everyone feels the only answer would be to install Average Speed cameras all the way through, to ensure drivers stick to the speed limit and drive safely at all times. A single speed camera would not do this, as people would simply slow down and then speed up afterwards. Average speed cameras are proven to really calm the traffic flow, as seen a short drive down the road in Gdynia way. Repeat offenders breaking the law would then face fines and losing their licenses. The road is bound to be used as a shortcut as opposed to driving the long way around and if this is the case we need to keep it safe!
