Using the state veterinarian recommended website located below, the data shows that since the transports of Heartworm positive animals have taken place, the number of positive cases has risen.
While every state has Heartworm, North Dakota did not see that many cases in one year.
Just in one month(June 2022), it has risen beyond the number of cases in the entire year of 2018 and 2019. Then in the years 2020 and 2021 you start to see the uptick in numbers.
Why are they bringing them up here? One simple reason….grant money. You would think with all this grant money, “large donations in $100,000s”, and now go fund me campaigns they would be able to afford paper towels, dog food and kitty litter right?
Since Minot Vet operates the pound with only city funded contract money in the $30-40,000 range for a year and brings in a saves more animals in a year than SVAS, you would think SVAS could do the same right? Do you see the pound begging for litter, paper towels or dog food?
Please consider taking the pound or rescues some of your donations, I am sure they would appreciate it!
