Please see the  latest article in The Critic by Charles Saumarez Smith about Make Architects’ disastrous plans risk destroying the character of the South Bank.

We really need your help to write to London Mayor, Sadiq Khan asking him to 'call in' these plans for a monstrous office block which will ruin the The Queen's Walk and be daylight robbery for local social housing residents .

Florence Eshalomi MP Member of Parliament for Vauxhall recently set out her  objections to Sadiq Khan that she had  previously submitted to Lambeth Council, and asked the London Mayor to 'call in' the decision so that the application can be reconsidered.

Florence agrees that the site must be developed. However, is not satisfied that the type of development proposed is aligned to the needs of the area.

Florence believes that the public realm benefits of this
proposal could be achieved whilst avoiding the bulk of the harms it would cause to local residents and heritage assets like the National Theatre. Specifically, her objections to the application are on the following grounds:

  • Lack of housing provision
  • Affordability and local benefit
  • Daylight reductions
  • Heritage harms

Florence asked Sadiq Khan to use his call-in power to reverse this decision and allow a proposal to be found which utilises this key strategic site for local benefit without causing such unnecessary harms.

Please email Sadiq Khan and ask him to 'call the application in': mayor@london.gov.uk
