EMAIL TO THE SECRETARY OF THE MAYOR OF AYAMONTE

November 1, 2026

Dear Mayor of Ayamonte, Mr. Alberto Fernández,

On July 15, 2026, we sent you an update regarding this petition, thanking you for the progress made and reminding you of the important points that remained outstanding. There has been very little progress since then, with only 1 out of 16 points resolved. To summarize:

1. Gardeners in Punta del Moral and Isla Canela throughout the year, and especially during July and August.

2. Giahsa: Connection of the sewage pumping system in Punta del Moral: RESOLVED

3. Placement of blue walkways (mats) on the beach, extending at least as far as the area of firm sand.

4. Speed bumps or speed-monitoring devices on Avenida de la Mojarra.

5. An annual renewal plan for the wooden beach walkways, which are now over 25 years old.

6. Pets on the beach: We request permanent signage at all beach entrances where a prohibition is in effect, as well as the designation of additional pet-friendly beach areas in locations with lower foot traffic.

7. Future street resurfacing plans that benefit Isla Canela in proportion to our contribution to the IBI (municipal property tax).

8. Replacement of vandalized bus stops using more suitable materials.

9. Bulky items left near waste containers: We request that the Town Council actively promote Giahsa’s free collection service (Tel. 901 200 176) and its recycling center (*Punto Limpio*, located on Calle Ribera del Guadiana). This information should be displayed at all bus stops, on waste containers, and on available non-commercial signage, specifying the relevant municipal ordinance and the associated fine. The signatories of this petition have already requested that the residential complex administrations publicise this in communal areas and elevators, and send it via email to the property owners.

10. Unfinished promenade area in front of the Antonio restaurant: We request that further pressure be applied to the Coastal Authority (*Costas*) to obtain the necessary permits to complete this area. The signatories of this petition have already sent an email and a formal letter—submitted via the government’s online system with a receipt confirmation—to Mr. Gabriel Jesús Cunea López, Head of the Provincial Coastal Service in Huelva. A meeting also took place with Councilor Paloma Ogayar, who is tasked with managing these permits with the Coastal Authority. THERE HAS BEEN NO PROGRESS.

11. Deep cleaning and landscaping in the area behind the La Punta del Moral shopping center and along the street where the Melia hotel is located.

12. Provision of a dedicated space for restaurant waste at the La Punta del Moral port, as such waste frequently overflows from the bins on adjacent streets.

13. An annual improvement plan for the bicycle paths in Isla Canela and Ayamonte.

14. Basic improvements to the La Punta del Moral Sports Center (nets, fencing, etc.) and its reactivation, either directly by the Town Council or through an outsourced arrangement.

15. A total ban on motorhomes in Isla Canela, or the establishment of a designated, paid-access area for them.

16. Replacement of the following traffic signs in La Punta del Moral—an issue that affects over 1,000 property owners daily during the summer:

"No Entry" sign at the corner of Calle Paseo de la Cruz and Calle San Bruno.
"No Entry" sign at the corner of Calle San Bruno and the roundabout.
"No Parking" zone on Calle Tablazo (including 200 meters of yellow curb markings).
"No Entry" sign at the intersection of Calle Cuatro Vientos and Avenida de la Mojarra. No Parking on Calle Nao; installation of bollards and tree pruning to ensure signage is visible.

Mr. Mayor, we understand that some items may require more time and budget than others. However, there has been NO PROGRESS whatsoever since July. Items 4, 6, 9, 11, 12, 15, and 16 could be resolved with very LITTLE BUDGET and a great deal of POLITICAL WILL.

An update regarding the progress made by the Town Council on these matters will be sent every two months to the nearly 3,500 signatories. We kindly ask that you listen to us.

Respectfully,

Lisa Bovio

(on behalf of nearly 3,500 signatories)
