Spider-Man and The MCU. Change his fate, don't let Sony take him away.

The Issue

Update 22.08.2018: Okay so I just found out that Marvel (and Disney) actually wanted to have 30% finances instead of 50%. Finding that out just made me even more upset, don't let Sony do this to us fans, save Spider-Man so we can fulfill Stan Lee's dying wish.

As most of you have just found out, Sony and Marvel have just ended their partnership and Spider-Man will no longer be in the MCU. This was due to both studios being unable to reach an agreement involving finances.

Previously Marvel only had a 5% financial share, while Sony kept the rest as well as Final Creative Control over Spider-Man, and Sony said that if Far From Home reached over 1 Billion Dollars at the box office then Final Creative Control would revert back to Marvel. Marvel have suggested they do a 50/50 share of finances but Sony refused and now because of this Spider-Man has been stripped away from his home in the MCU. Both Spider-Man and us "the fans" now pay the price for this (as well as Stan Lee, god rest his soul).

This needs to change, Spider-Man is one of Marvel's most beloved characters, he's been a part of their long history and his most recent film Far From Home (which is over 1 Billion dollars now) is the Highest Grossing Spider-Man movie of all time, and it couldn't have happened without Marvel's involvement.

We've already seen before Spider-Man joined the MCU what Sony had planned, different spin-offs that weren't going anywhere? and a film based off of the controversial clone saga?. Now they're trying to make their own universe with other Spider-Man characters but with the exception of Venom, none of these movies are going anywhere or sound like they could do good.

So I ask, not only as a Spider-Man Fan, not only as an MCU fan, not only as a Marvel fan, not only as a superhero fan, not only as a comic book fan but also a Pop Culture Fan that you please sign this petition to save Spider-Man. Sign it so we can get the message out to Sony and Marvel, let both companies know how much this character/hero means to people.

To many Spider-Man was our hero growing up, he's the hero we can all relate to, he teaches us how to overcome life problems and remind us all that "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility". Stan Lee's last words before he died were "Take care of my son" and he was referring to Spider-Man. Spider-Man is Stan Lee's son, his dying wish was for us to take care of him, but now we will fail him because of this argument.

4 years ago in 2015, Sony and Marvel saved Spider-Man and brought him to the MCU to take care of him, now it seems like Stan's dying wish is being thrown away, don't let it happen, spread the word to Sony and Marvel. Keep Spider-Man in the MCU, take care of him...for his fans...for the world...for Stan Lee.

Thank you for reading and signing.
