After many fans pestering him for a release date, TheFloW has finally announced through a series of tweets that his new HENkaku will be out in September. This may come as a surprise to some, as TheFloW had previously decided not to release the his HENkaku until after the Vita had officially been discontinued. Currently there was been only rumour but no official announcement of such a end of life. In addition, Sony's new PlayStation chief, John Kodera, has hinted that Sony are not out of the handheld gaming market just yet. But the reason for the earlier than expected release, is that TheFloW has begun work on an even newer version of HENkaku that he expects should work on post-3.68 firmware. "I have been working on a second exploit chain for vita over the last 4 weeks. Was tough to find all the puzzle pieces to put them together. I will finish it after my exams :) Stay tuned. This also means that the first exploit chain from February will definitely be released in September, means you'll be able to have henkaku on 3.65-3.68 firmwares (which doesn't require you to be on 3.60)" https://twitter.com/theflow0/status/1005336837609721856 This is great news for us who want 100% Vita compatibility on the PSTV. With the new HENkaku on 3.68, this means we'll be able to install FakeCamera and DS Motion on our PSTV's and still have access to all new games requiring the latest firmware. Together with the PSVimgTools whitelist hack, this will is rectify the compatibility issues in games like Uncharted Golden Abyss and Tearaway. If Sony's modus operendi is any indication, they will no doubt release a new firmware update to block the 3.68 HENkaku when its released in September. This likely will mean being locked out of the online features again if you are relying on HENkaku. At least until the post-3.68 HENkaku is released. But if you're primary need for HENkaku is to install DS Motion and FakeCamera, this'll get the job done. Stay tuned!
