WB Games has announced on their Twitter account that in Spring 2017 Lego City Undercover will be ported to the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and of course, the PlayStation 4!

As those of you who following this petition from the very beginning will recall, one of my suggestions to save the Vita was to use it as a Wii U Game Pad equivalent for the PS4, thus allowing Sony to port third party Wii U exclusive titles over to the PS4. And maybe bundle said titles with a Vita, since obviously you would need it as a controller. And of course, one of those titles was Lego City Undercover.
In the months between back then and now, I received not only criticism but even ridicule for even suggesting such a thing. "Oh, don't be silly, that will never happen! A Nintendo exclusive title ported to PS4? Oh please!" And yet, here we are now talking about such a port. It's not the first time a so-called Nintendo exclusive title found its way to Sony's and Microsoft's respective consoles (yes, I'm looking at you, Goldeneye: Reloaded!)
To the best of my knowledge, WB Games have not yet announced how Wii U Game Pad features will be incorporated into the PS4 version, if at all. But if they are to do so, this could be the Vita's moment to shine. It can serve all the functions of the Wii U Game Pad and then some. And since Lego City Undercover is getting a PS4 port, who knows, maybe it's 3DS prequel will get a Vita port with PS TV compatibility. Wouldn't you want to play that on your telly without the need for expensive and half baked 3DS mods...?
