Sonic: Stop supporting animal abuse!

Sonic: Stop supporting animal abuse!
The Issue
Sonic Drive-In pledged they would improve their animal welfare standards and stop using eggs from caged hens. Unfortunately, they have decided to keep customers in the dark regarding how far they are from reaching their goal. Sonic has refused to publicly report its progress towards its cage-free commitment—which is unacceptable.
Hens confined to tiny, barren cages endure physical and psychological trauma. These smart, social birds are trapped in cages the size of a filing cabinet drawer. They are crammed so tightly, they cannot even spread their wings. Each hen only gets the space equivalent to an iPad. These birds are also unable to engage in natural behaviors, such as perching, dust-bathing, and nesting. As consumers learn more about the cruelty egg-laying chickens endure, they are asking companies to take action.
Many companies listened to consumers and have both committed to stop sourcing eggs from caged chickens and actively taken steps to meet their goals. Sonic is not one of those companies. While Sonic has recognized their current animal welfare policies fall short, they are not taking their commitment seriously.
Let Sonic know that consumers do not want empty promises—we want empty cages!
