Checking In and Updates

Hello, signers. It has been 7 months since I allowed this petition to go online, and what an amazing turnout that I see, with 717 supporters raring to watch the two big angry boys go head to head with one another in the ring! I am personally amazed that something I have done has made this kind of outreach and I am thoroughly impressed that it has gotten as far as it has. Of course, there is a particular snag; when I made this petition in November, I was very terrified that we were going to enter into nuclear arms with North Korea, and I made this petition to solely hinge on the dropping of nuclear arms. For those who have not been paying attention to the news, after the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics were over, Kim Jong Un took a surprise visit to China, where he announced that he would be denuclearizing his country. This is speculated to be for many different reasons, but most sources point to Kim's want to renew trade agreements with China. You can look into it anyway that you so wish, and I urge you to read up on the subject if you are still nervous about a nuclear strike on American ground. This does, however, change the context of this petition. While American/North Korean diplomacy is still a fervent imbroglio, the fires have quelled significantly, as the current topic at hand is an ultimatum released by Kim saying that we must remove our troops from the Korean Peninsula as a caveat to the denuclearization of the country. I am not 100% sure on this, however, and neither are the sources that I am seeing. This is definitely a great departure from the tensions we were seeing 7 months ago, and I am not sure if it is still a good idea to advocate this petition any further. However, I am not going to close this petition entirely; current events change and the tides may not be settled just yet. Whatever the case, I am glad. Not only because of how many people are in favor of this ridiculous nonsense (which I will try my hardest to make a reality!), but also because of the denuclearization talks which make our planet that much less stressful to live on and inhabit.
