Petition Update: Stop Using Children as Weapons in Family Court

Many survivors of domestic violence believe that once they leave an abusive relationship, the violence and control will finally end. Sadly, for some families, the abuse continues through the family court system.

When children are placed in the care of the abusive parent, the bully can continue the cycle of control. Some use custody battles, accusations, and legal pressure to punish the victim. In these situations, the children themselves can become tools used to hurt the other parent.

Children should never be used as weapons.

Children deserve stability, safety, and the freedom to love both parents without being placed in the middle of conflict. They should never be forced to carry the emotional weight of adult disputes or manipulation.

Victims of domestic violence often feel like their voices are not heard in the system that is supposed to protect families. Many survivors continue to speak out because they love their children and want a better future for them.

This petition is not about revenge. It is about accountability, transparency, and reform so that systems designed to protect families truly prioritize the safety and well-being of children.
