Meeting with Department of Social Services

Hi All We are almost there! Thursday 27 October 2016 we have a meeting with the Federal Department of Social Service regarding Paid Parental Leave (PPL) for Foster and Kinship parents. Current legislation excludes Foster and Kinship parents from receiving PPL which is to the detriment of 0-52 week old vulnerable children entering the 'Out of Home Care' system. The bond and attachment a child receives from their primary carer is invaluable. The cost to the community when attachments are not established is substantial. A little bit of financial support at the beginning will out weigh the cost in the future. Comment should you have anything you would like us to discuss surrounding this issue.
