Snapchat to Allow Username Changes from Dead Names/Maiden Names

The Issue

Snapchat let's you change your name but not your username. The hassle it takes to create a new Snapchat username and add all new friends and create a new bitmoji and everything is too much of a hassle.

People who have changed their names, have come out as transgender or non-binary, and those who no longer go by their dead/given birth name. So what if they made their dead name a part of their username? Or someone who put their maiden name, or married name but no longer go by that name.

Snapchat should allow people to change their username. At least once in an account lifetime. The expectation to keep the same username or create a brand new account and have to set up a new email and not be able to add your phone number to your new account is absolutely absurd.

Every other social media application allows you to change your name or username. Snapchat should allow the same. Do better Snapchat. Get with the times. Show your support to the LGBTQIA+ community.
