Smart Growth, Not Overgrowth – Reconsider 125 The Queensway ~ SE Coalition for Change
The Issue
As a longtime resident of South Etobicoke, I've cherished our beautiful home and its everchanging landscape however I have observed first hand how the increasing housing density is encroaching upon our essential services and integral community spaces. It is concerning to note that the proposal for 125 The Queensway Condo could exacerbate this issue.
While urbanization and growth are inevitable facets of a bustling city like ours, it is crucial to ensure balance. As per the City of Toronto's own Official Plan, it's important to intensify housing while maintaining the integrity and livability of our neighborhoods [City of Toronto Official Plan]. The present condo proposal, unfortunately, seems to overlook this balance. South Etobicoke is cherished for its community-centric spaces, vibrant local businesses, and accessible essential services. A significant increase in housing density could strain these resources, transforming the character of our neighborhood.
More specifically, concerns have been raised about the additional pressure on already stretched local healthcare services and schools, as well as looming traffic and parking issues.
We propose a more comprehensive and community-conscious approach to high-density residential developments. We call upon the City of Toronto to revisit the 125 The Queensway Condo proposal, ensuring a balanced proposal that recognizes the importance of maintaining a robust community infrastructure.
The time for action is now. Join us in urging the City of Toronto to reconsider this condo proposal, safeguarding our community's future. Please sign this petition.
