SISTATALKPHL Needs Your Help

The Issue

This petition is for Adam McNeil the founder of SistatalkPhl, which was created in June 2018. Adam was Federally indicted in May of 2022 for a crime that was committed back in June 2020. Since then Adam has not just been a pillar of his community but an advocate for Black Women and children. Back in August 2020, Adam launched a new mission with SistaTalkPHL that involved providing single mothers with free laundry services by partnering with local laundromats throughout Philadelphia. These were not just any ordinary events, the community wash days include free food, diapers, care packages, music, and a cohort of local organizations that Adam partnered with to provide additional services to mothers & families in need. To Adam, these events were about showing black women the love that he didn't see shown to his mother by his very own father whom he later met for the first time during his time in prison as he served an 8 1/2-year sentence.

Caring for the black women & kids in Philadelphia has always been at the top of Adams’ to-do list and even as he has faced several trials and tribulations, he has still managed to put others before himself.

Adam is a human before he is a hero and has always been open about his life and journey.

Adam has been in countless spotlights, graced the cover of many news articles, and has done so with an abundance of humility; his mission is about action and not fame.

Shortly after Adam was indicted, he and his girlfriend decided to get married and make things official. With this marriage, he now has a phenomenal 19-year-old daughter who is currently a freshman at Bethune-Cookman university. Adam’s mother has been battling with diabetes for the past two years and he has become her unofficial aid after a multitude of surgeries to ensure she doesn't lose her vision.

All of Adam’s hard work and dedication finally paid off at the end of 2022 when he was awarded a federal grant from the CDC by way of his community partnership with his now fiscal sponsor Bebashi: Transitions to Hope. Bebashi adopted Adams organization SistaTalkphl as one of their local grassroots partners to provide free self-testing take-home HIV kits to the Black and Brown community to bring awareness to the HIV and Aids epidemic in Philadelphia.

With this funding, Adam and his wife Lillian opened My Sistas Resource Hub located in North Philadelphia. Despite many of his family and friends advising against opening the Hub because of his circumstances, his vision was larger than his circumstances, and didn't want his situation to control the unconditional love he wanted to show to his community. Since opening the hub Adam and his wife have already helped nearly 125 families with free food, diapers, hygiene, and cleaning supplies on a daily basis since their launch in January. Adam also runs an after-school snack pack program where he feeds 120 to 150 young people each week.

Adam has taken full responsibility for his role in this crime and acknowledges what he did was outside of the character of who he was and was working to become. Adam is far from perfect, and he has always been honest about that while striving to be the change he wants to see in his community. Adam is a real-life example of a human seeking personal reform while being subject to making mistakes all while still creating change in the process.

Adam is not a murderer; he is a Husband, Adam is not a drug dealer; he is a community leader, and Adam is not a threat to his community; he is an asset, yet is looking at 60 months in federal prison only because the court system is using crimes that he has already served time for as points against him to increase his time in prison.

This Petition is not to prevent Adam from serving his time in federal prison however it’s to support him in getting a surrender date for 60 days so that he can continue to do good work in the community as well as an opportunity for him to be home for his mother’s surgery on May 15th.

If you know Adam you know his heart and losing him leaves a big dent in the community so we are asking those who believe in Adam and support his mission to sign this Petition before Tuesday, March 14th at 1 pm.
