Help the Strays of Jalan Lekar

Help the Strays of Jalan Lekar
The Issue
The Animal and Veterinary Services of Singapore runs a program island-wide to neuter stray dogs. After neutering them, these dogs are subsequently returned to the area where they were caught, with little access to food and water.
SPCA licensed dog feeders have taken on the role to provide food so as to ensure the dogs do not starve. As far as we know, apart from donations from private individuals, there is no government support for this voluntary activity. A group of volunteers in Singapore have been supporting and feeding the strays at Jalan Lekar for the past year and the program was quietly, running well.
However, signs stating "No Feeding of Dogs" were recently erected in the area. Presumably on the basis of an incorrect interpretation of “wildlife”. Further attempts to continue the feeding of dogs were blocked by hostile individuals, who even stalked one of the feeders. Consequently, the dogs are now left to fend for themselves in an industrial/ forested area where food is non-existent, and it's been a number of days.
It's concerning that volunteers and support groups no longer have access to provide much-needed food and water to the dogs in the area - which will cause hunger, illness, starvation and may eventually lead to death.
We urge the authorities concerned to act swiftly, on humane grounds, to prevent starvation of those dogs by taking urgent steps to allow feeders to re-enter the area, to provide basic food and water.
