Day 6: 971 signed supporters and we are getting close to a 1000 supporters for this cause which is good. Let’s continue to share the petition with friends and hope to get more signees.

We have also started a Facebook group for likeminded peeps like yourself so please do join and share your thoughts/experiences or ideas of how we can reach to the government faster and get them to consider our cause. click on the link below to join and do share as well.

Next, an observation: The good thing is that our conversion rate has improved from our initial 3 views to 1 signee to the current 2 views and 1 signed. Meaning previously for every 3 views of our petition we had one signee but now for every 2 views we have 1 new signee. Hopefully this means we have been able to reach out to more likeminded peeps and pissing less people off

Another observation is that throughout this week, we have a few variations of this cause like instead of a complete ban, I saw a comment to reduce singel-use plastic by charging for the use of it while one of our key members in our FB group contemplated on the idea of subsidizing a alternate solution (so that we can develop a sustainable solution to replace this) while incentivizing peeps who don’t use plastic by reducing the costs of the packet food if they don’t use the single-use plastic bag (which maybe an interim phase).
For me I am thankful for all these suggestions and do not think they are competition with ours coz really there is no competition as we we are all heading in the same direction and we all share the same common idea/theme and that is single-use plastic is not sustainable and the finish line is still to ban the use of single-use plastic eventually. More importantly, we need to get the government place this cause on its agenda and act on it ASAP (whether it is a reduction or ban).

Once the government decides to place this on its agenda and act on it (whether to reduce or ban), I think part of our job is done already and if the finish line (of banning of single-use plastic in supermarkets and eateries) can be reached earlier by skipping 1 or 2 steps, wouldn’t it be great? No matter what, whichever way we can get the government to act on this earlier, I’ll take it.

Anyway, lastly this FB group was created for us to share our thoughts/experiences, ideas of how to speed this process up and get the government to act on this cause & also more importantly to support each other whenever we ever encounter set backs when we try to promote this to other parties... eg I have been reprmanded before for not being able to write my petition in a professional manner:(

Lastly, lookin forward to meeting all of you on this Facebook group (and hopefully in person too if possible) and hope to hear from you soon.
