I come forward as a representative of many within the LGBTQ+ community who hold the belief that the term "2SLGBTQIA+" can be confusing, complex, and difficult to comprehend, especially for those less familiar with our community. Such confusion, we fear, risks a barrier of understanding and acceptance from those outside our community. Our solution? We propose a simpler name: "The Rainbow Community." The term "Rainbow Community" emphasizes our diversity, unity, and pride, symbolized by the all-encompassing Rainbow Flag that is so widely recognized. Recent studies have suggested that clearer, shorter terms can lead to better understanding and acceptance (source: LGBTQ+ Terminology Research). We believe that this new appellation not only simplifies communication but also fosters acceptance and unity. We urge policymakers, educators, and institutions to recognize and adopt the title "Rainbow Community" in place of 2SLGBTQIA+.
