• Help convince Silverstein Properties and the New York City, NY State, and federal governments to try harder to actually fulfill their promises to complete the World Trade Center by building the long-delayed Two World Trade Center and finally restoring the New York City skyline.
• Stop the misconception that the World Trade Center has been completed when in fact the truth is far from it. The World Trade Center is not finished, only some of the components have been. Popular conception is that One World Trade is the World Trade Center, which is a fallacy propagated by the government and the mainstream media. This couldn't be farther from the truth.

ABOUT TWO WORLD TRADE CENTER

What mainstream media and the government didn't tell you when One World Trade was completed was that its sister building, Two World Trade, was planned, but had been delayed for years due to lack of funding. Two World Trade, when completed (if ever), is planned to be a 1,340 foot-tall, 80+ story building almost as big as One World Trade. Only when Two is completed will the skyline once again have a pair of 'twin' towers, which, although not identical, will represent the complete rebuilding of the complex. Three other major buildings, Three, Four and Seven World Trade (80, 74, and 55 floors tall, respectively), are either completed or almost finished, but Two only has a foundation poured. In addition, the Westfield shopping center has been completed, and the WTC Performing Arts Center (which will be known as the Perelman) is currently under construction with completion scheduled in a few years. In fact, Two World Trade is the only piece of the puzzle left. This is why it is so vitally important for it to be built soon. Only when Two World Trade is finished will the World Trade Center have been rebuilt.

WHY IT HAS BEEN DELAYED

Silverstein Properties claims that the project is being delayed because of lack of funding, but at the same time they have not been attempting aggressively enough (at least publicly) to gain major funding since their disastrous interaction with Rupert Murdoch and the News Corp. conglomerate. In 2015, Rupert Murdoch announced that the FOX network, along with major news titans such as the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, would be moving to Two World Trade Center after financing construction as an anchor tenant. However, merely months later they withdrew from this agreement, even after commissioning a brand-new design for the tower by the Bjarke Ingels Group, an up-and-coming architecture firm.

There are very few companies in the United States which could anchor a building of the cost and magnitude of Two World Trade Center, and most have already said they are not interested. Therefore, waiting for such an anchor to show up is waiting for a miracle which will probably never come. For that reason, Silverstein Properties should take a much more aggressive approach to finding large numbers of smaller tenants willing to pay smaller shares up front to finance the construction. Continuing to wait for a miracle tenant is not prudent business, it is laziness and is disrespectful to the people of New York and of the United States, who deserve to see the NYC skyline restored after the tragic attacks of September 11, 2001.

Blaming Silverstein Properties entirely is not exactly fair. Also at fault are the city, state, and federal governments, who promised to do their part in the rebuilding process, but are clearly failing to do so. Leaving responsibility to pick up the bill to Silverstein Properties, which is clearly not large enough to build a complex the magnitude of the World Trade Center on its own, is counterproductive and illogical. Silverstein Properties did not choose to have the responsibility to rebuild, and while the government has been providing lots of assistance to Silverstein Properties, now is the time to provide even more, considering that adequate progress is not being made.

By signing this petition, you are showing Silverstein Properties and the local, state, and federal governments that the public has not forgotten about Two World Trade Center, and will not settle until the skyline is restored. It would be a disgrace if the rebuilding of the World Trade Center, a symbol of American resiliency and pride, cannot be completed 20 years after the 9/11 attacks.
