The Issue

My name is Alexandra Andrei and I own the Care Pack Project Foundation - a registered non profit in BC that has been consistently providing essential items to unhoused individuals on Vancouver Island in the city of Langford and Greater Victoria since 2015.

I am a resident of Langford but have lived in Victoria and Saanich. I have a Justice Studies degree from Royal Roads University here on the island, own my own home, am an immigrant from beautiful Romania and love Canada, especially my home right here on Vancouver Island, BC. As a result of my knowledge and experience I understand the homelessness crisis from multiple angles and have priceless first hand experience.

I consistently interact with people who live on our streets in person and have built strong relationships, rapport, and trust with many housed and unhoused community members. I have learnt a lot from first hand experience and believe that our beautiful city can become even more beautiful and rich (literally) quite easily if the right measures are implemented correctly.

I am asking that you support that I collaborate with the RCMP, VicPD, the City of Langford and of Victoria and others (bylaw and policy makers) to help our residents and bring more beauty and safety to our homes. I strongly believe that we all need to work together to solve the homelessness crisis; municipalities, law enforcement agencies as well as individuals with knowledge and experience gained directly from working with these vulnerable individuals. Once this petition gets a few signatures I will send the attached letter to enforcement agencies and municipalities in Victoria BC, Langford, and surrounding areas.

The homelessness crisis in Victoria, Langford, and surrounding areas creates other complex issues which means that if we focus our efforts and fix it, many other problems within our city will be fixed or be in the process of being fixed.

Vancouver Island will become a better, safer and more beautiful place should the right approaches be implemented. We can restore dignity for all while simultaneously restoring order and stability in our neighbourhoods. Businesses will thrive here, our taxpayers will see positive changes resulting directly from their pockets and all residents, including the most vulnerable, will have stronger faith and confidence in the systems and personnel meant to “serve” and/or “protect.”

By signing this petition, you support coordinated, practical action to make our communities safer, stronger, and truly resident-focused.
